Case Study #5: Fiber Optics Components (Telecommunications
Industry) – Plastikos has molded fiber optics product for the
telecommunications industry since the formation of the company. Over the past 12 years, Plastikos has
supplied numerous components to this industry such as fiber protectors, fiber
support trays, receptacle housings, element housings, connector housings
& connector retainers, strain reliefs & strain boots, protective caps,
and dust covers, to name a few. At the
peak of the project, Plastikos supplied an average of over 1.1 million parts
per month, which translates into almost 14 million parts per year. In 1996, Plastikos received an award from
the customer in recognition of ongoing excellence in manufacturing for the
project. Today, Plastikos continues to
produce some of the most complex and intricate parts that are necessary for
future growth and advancement within the fiber optics industry. |
